CHIROPRACTIC

Our Chiropractors are highly qualified health professionals who offer treatment for musculoskeletal conditions (problems with the bones, joints, trapped nerves, muscles and tendons) that are causing pain or limiting you in your daily life.

Pain in the body may occur as a result of accidents, illness, poor posture, lack of exercise, sports injury or simply everyday wear and tear. These problems tend to cause pressure on the joints, muscles and nerves in the body.

Chiropractors treat a wide variety of conditions, including chronic back, neck or joint pain and conditions arising from sports injury. They also treat headaches caused by neck problems, as well as helping patients with migraine prevention. Chiropractors help people of all ages, children, athletes, office workers and pregnant people.

Our Chiropractors are also trained in:

  • Dry needling

  • Soft tissue therapy, muscular and fascial release

  • Spinal and joint rehabilitation

  • Kinesiology taping

  • Chiropractors use ‘adjustments’ to help get movement in the joints and release pressure off neighbouring nerves. An adjustment is where a Chiropractor puts a precise, skilled impulse to a specific joint, in a specific direction at a specific angle with minimal force. You can often hear a click or a crack when the movement occurs, it’s not painful or scary, it is just gas being released from a synovial capsule surrounding the joint. If there are any contraindications to adjusting an individual then other methods can be used.

  • Our chiropractors are experienced in caring for pregnant people. Many mums-to-be suffer with low back and hip pain, pelvic girdle pain (PGP), sciatica, carpal tunnel, muscle cramps, pubic symphysis pain and fatigue. Chiropractic and massage can help reduce these symptoms and keep you comfortable throughout your pregnancy. We also know the importance of keeping mobile and strong so your body is able to recover as quickly as possible after the delivery of your baby. We do this through Chiropractic care, guided rehabilitation and pelvic floor exercises.

  • Our Chiropractors are experienced in looking after people of all ages, from babies to those in their 90s. Chiropractic treatments are tailored to your individual needs and the best course of action for you is established after having your initial consultation. If the cause of your pain is not something a Chiropractor can help with, then we will help refer you to those who can best treat your condition.

At ORKU we also offer free 15 minute pre-consultations, where you can come to the clinic and discuss with one of our Chiropractors whether Chiropractic or Sport Therpay is something that can help you. Just go to our ‘Book now’ page to book.

  • You can book your initial consultation online here, or alternatively you can call us on 0117 902 0039

What to Expect

  • Initial Consultation

This is a 30 minute appointment where you will sit down with your Chiropractor to go through the issues you are having, what brings you to the clinic and an in-depth medical history. Your Chiropractor will then undertake a thorough assessment and examination to find the cause of the issue. this will include a physical, neurological and orthopaedic examination. Depending on the results of the examination, your Chiropractor will either book you in for a report of findings as a follow up appointment, or if necessary, you may be referred for further investigation such as an X-Ray or MRI scan.

  • Report of Findings

A 30 minute appointment where your Chiropractor explains your diagnosis, and discusses the findings of any further investigations you have had. Your Chiropractor will explain the diagnosis in detail, then go through how we can help, how many sessions you will need and the cost of treatment. After this you can choose whether or not to proceed with treatment in this session and have your first adjustment. Your Chiropractor will also provide you with guidance on rehabilitation and stretches to do at home to aid your recovery.

  • Reassessments

Through your bespoke course of care, you will have appointments called reassessments where alongside an adjustment, you will be assessed objectively and subjectively, to ensure you are making the mechanical progress as expected by your Chiropractor. During these reassessments we will make sure you are happy with the progress that you are making and the list of things you are able to do should be getting longer! These are also sessions where your prescribed stretches and strengthening exercises will be assessed and modified to suit your current level of progress.

  • Maintenance

Your last appointment in your course of care is a review where we ensure the physical and examination results are improved but most importantly that you have reached the goals you set when you first came to ORKU. We then encourage you to maintain your spinal and physical health so that you can break the pain cycle and stay at your new optimum, through maintaining strength exercises or joining group classes in which you may have not felt able to before coming to ORKU. This will all be advised and guided by your Chiropractor. We will also offer check up appointments and maintenance adjustments to ensure you keep progressing, not regressing.
